People become homeless for a variety of reasons, but most often they encounter serious problems related to income, housing, health, safety, and support systems. Preventing and ending homelessness means addressing these root issues. After resolving immediate safety needs, ensuring people have stable housing provides a platform for addressing the health, support, and income issues that may lead to homelessness again.
For this reason, we make investments in three interrelated program areas: Housing, Health and Support, and Income. Within each of these, the Trust has Priority Areas of Focus where we direct our grantmaking. We also support three “Cross-Program Initiatives” that touch all of our program areas.
